The Light has come

I opened the Course in Miracles book at random this morning, and this is the lesson that showed up: The Light has come. Appropriate, I thought, for the 2012 new year. Funny I should think that, when twenty years ago I was sure the end of the world would happen in 2012. And it is happening, but not the way I thought.

Twenty years ago, when I first read all the dire prophecies for 2012--that the Mayan calendar ended and the end of the world would be upon us--I was terrified. At least, I thought to myself, I will have lived long enough. I was 38 and being 58 seemed quite old at the time. (Needless to say I feel a little bit different now.)

So what do I believe now about 2012? I believe that 2012 does mark the beginning of the end of the world as we know it. But that's not a bad thing. The old paradigm has not been working. All the systems--the educational, the political, the religious, the corporate--have been in place to enslave us. We've believed that we are living in a democracy, when in fact it is a plutocracy. Occupy Wall Street is an indication that we are all waking up to the fact that we have given our power away to money and the corporations. The end of this paradigm is not a bad thing.

I believe that the end of the world is showing up for all of us internally. We are all facing our greatest fears so that we can wake up from the nightmare. As more light is coming to the planet, the darkness--our fear, anger, and grief--is coming up to be released. It feels like hell while we are going through it, but we do come out on the other side with our masks torn off--more real, more vulnerable, more who we really are. This is a good thing.

So in this new year, rather than resolutions of what we think we need to fix, I invite you to put out intentions for your heart's desires. Don't even worry about how these intentions will be accomplished. These days I have been asking God (the Universe, whatever) questions rather than telling Him what I want. My questions, which I have been writing in the sand as I walk the Florida beaches, are:
  1. Where is my home?
  2. Where is my tribe?
  3. Where is my partner?
  4. What is my work?

The last question is the most important to me. My intention is that these questions be answered in 2012. What are your deepest questions?

Back to the Course in Miracles, the first paragraph of The Light has come states:

The light has come. You are healed and you can heal. The light has come. You are saved and you can save. You are at peace, and you bring peace with you where ever you go. Darkness and turmoil and death have disappeared. The light has come.

Today we celebrate the happy ending to your long dream of disaster. There are no dark dreams now. The light has come. Today the time of light begins for you and everyone. It is a new era, in which a new world is born. The old one has left no trace upon it in its passing. Today we see a different world, because the light has come.

May this be true for all of us in 2012. Happy New Year!

I'm a bit confused by some of your
comments.

You invite us to "put out our intentions for our heart's desire", and then follow by asking questions
rather than indicating your intentions.

Questions can be answered easily, and there are many people ready to
give you the answers. God has already answered.

The best way to get what you want is to know what that is. That's also where the real work is. If you're not clear on this, you'll continue to attract lots of unwanted feelings and experiences.

Most people don't have a clue to their purpose on the planet. I'm
not referring to "work". Purpose is fulfilled in many ways. Once you can identify this in words, you will be on a journey of discovery
which will shine the "light" on the
answers that have been wanting.

I remember you saying how passionate you felt about something in your recent past. This is a clue to the answers to your 4 questions.

It's hard to feel passion when you feel unhappy, although I guess you could feel "passionately unhappy", or "depressed", but you can choose to sit it out, since it won't kill you, as mentioned in your previous
post. It will pass. It can't be
fixed. As you advise, just be with it.

The light is here, but we might miss it if we choose to remain in the dark, stumbling around for the
switch, or hoping for answers to questions that will only come when
we are truly ready to embrace our
purpose.

My intention is to manifest those experiences which resonate with my purpose. For me, there is no greater intention than to be of service... to encourage, inspire, and support.

What words might you resonate with as you move towards the answers cloaked within your purpose?

What touches your heart? How does your compassion get expressed? How
do you show gratitude for all the gifts you have received in 2011, and before?

How do you make a difference?

The answers are yours, to be seen
in the light that is present all around you.

Wishing you heartfelt caring.

Hi, Shandi.
Sorry to confuse you. I thought that I was clear. My intention is to have answers to my questions about home, community, partner and work.

I can't get more specific than that, nor do I want to. I may think that I want to be a speaker, but if opportunities aren't showing up and I am stuck, then perhaps that's not what I'm suppose to be doing. I'd rather be open to what shows up, rather than think I know.

Micromanaging the Universe doesn't seem to work for me. So rather than have a plan, I am responding in each moment to what shows up.

I can try to manifest what I think will make me happy (that kind of magic hasn't made me happy in the past) or I can ask God for a miracle. I am asking for a miracle.

Now I get it!

Seems like you've experienced several miracles, but just not the ones that will give you the answers you seek.

You're in a place that you were guided to go, and happiness isn't
there, even though you asked for it when you blew out your birthday candles.

Maybe it's best to just ask for a miracle, and not specify.

It could be that a miracle is just
around the corner, that will answer
all your questions.

That would be well worth waiting for, no matter how long it takes!

Now I understand the unfolding of your journey, as the universe always provides exactly what we need to evolve.

Having a body, mind, and spirit that's open to what is showing up in every moment is truly a blessing and a gift to appreciate in oneself.

Your personal truth lights your way
to see the miracle you have asked for.

Wow! It feels so good to be understood. You said what I was trying to say very eloquently. Thank you!

I recently met a man who, like you has unplugged from the Matrix, and refuses to go back.

He expressed the same desires you have, and is also waiting for guidance, rather than specify certain wants. He too is asking for a miracle!

Fortunately he's able to live with his sister for now.

He said that most women aren't attracted to his lifestyle of not having the kind of job he had at one time...or any job right now.

I referred him to your blog so he could see how similar your paths have been. He too is
disillusioned with his spiritual
experiences.

He does volunteer work in the community since he's got so much free time. It has actually helped to channel his energy to helping people who are in worse shape than he is, and don't have a family support system for food, shelter and clothing.

He feels gratitude for what he has,
and it helps to keep him from focusing on his own challenges.

He feels hopeful that guidance is on the way, but in the meantime he
doesn't want to just hang around waiting.

He's able to experience his value even without a paid job. Being
appreciated has helped his self esteem, and has moved him from feelings of despair to hope.

How do you feel about a man who, like you, has unplugged, and will no longer be a corporation slave?
A man who's loving and wise.

How many women would partner with a man who's unplugged (unemployed)?

It would be great to hear from your women readers on this.

Despina Gurlides said...

How many women would partner with a man who is unemployed? That's a very good question, Shandi. I'm not sure I would. Unless he was passionately pursuing his own work and had a lot of masculine energy.

To me the masculine energy is more earthy. It takes care of things in the material world. It protects. It makes a woman feel safe.Opposite energies attract--yin and yang. I would not be attracted to a man who had the same energy that I have.

Relationships, when I was living in Marin, were a challenge. I kept asking myself, where is the testosterone?

I have no doubt that this response will be controversial, but I had to respond honestly to your excellent question. I'm curious to hear what other women think.

Shandi said...

I guess it's not desirable for a man to "unplug", and not know what his work is.

This seems like an old paradigm where men are expected to take care of the
material things, provide for and make a woman feel safe, even if it means they continue to work at a job that doesn't feed their soul.

Testosterone is the valued hormone.

I feel for men who want out of this
trap, and the women who want to be
taken care of. (Also a trap!)

It is what it is, and I guess many women need and want to be taken care of.

Being clear on this is the best way to connect with your preferred
relationship.

There are still lots of men out there in the corporate world, who want to take care of their women.

It may not bring the happiness you
desire, but then again it might....
for awhile.

More will be revealed.

Despina Gurlides said...

Oh, I don't want to be taken care of. (God is the Source of my supply.) But someone who is lost, as he and I both are right now, isn't appealing as a partner.

I think you need to be on your path, passionate about your life and your work, before you can be a good partner.

While I want a partner, my priority is finding my work and my home--and myself in the process. I would imagine that would be a man's priority too?
